EA background (Step 3 / 4)

March - April 2003: contacts and agreement with W3C/WAI

• W3C/WAI has been contacted by the BrailleNet Association (France) and Bartimeus-Accessibility Foundation (Netherlands),
• talks with W3C/WAI to get an agreement on the principles and objectives:
  • W3C/WAI guidelines shall always be considered as a de facto standard in the methods developed regarding Web Accessibility,
  • W3C, including WAI, makes no exclusive delegation of certification authority to any one organisation or group of organisations,
  • W3C/WAI is the final authority on interpretation of the WAI guidelines,
  • All the European countries shall be represented in the project,
  • Profit is not the scope of the project.
• W3C/WAI agrees to join,
• the name of the European Consortium is choosen: EuroAccessibility.
